We provide home repairs and renovations free of charge for homeowners in Lafayette, Iberia, Acadia, and Vermillion parishes who are physically and financially unable to perform the work on their own. The people we serve are low-income and also meet one or more of the following qualifications:
- Elderly (60 years and older)
- Living with a disability
- Veteran status
Please complete a Homeowner Application if you are interested in applying to one of our programs. We ask that you answer all questions thoroughly and provide all of the information requested. In addition, be prepared to include the following documentation:
- Proof of current ownership
- Proof of income
- Copy of a recent utility bill
Home safety is the first priority of Rebuilding Together. Our volunteers provide improvements that enhance the safety and security of the homeowners we serve. Applicants should know that because these are primarily short-term projects, major structural repairs are not possible, and the limited resources available to us requires that we be selective in taking on our projects.
Our next scheduled Rebuilding Day is set for April, 2012. If you would like your house to be considered, please complete the above application and return it to us as soon as possible. Applications received by November 1, 2011 will receive first consideration. We complete Ramps & Rails projects year-round and there is no deadline for that program. After we receive your application, we will contact you to arrange for a visit by a team of RTA volunteers to assess your home in person. The information they gather will be used in determining your eligibility. You will be notified in writing of the final decision on your application when it is made.
If you have questions about any of our programs or if you need assistance completing an application, please contact us at (337) 291-9910.
